Pacific Standard Time: Art in LA 1945-1980. Note to myself.
Detta inlägg är mest en 'Note to myself'. Det är om utställningar och samarbete runt om i Los Angeles. Utställningen Pacific Standard Time - LA INC.
This October, the international spotlight shines on Los Angeles as over 60 cultural institutions come together to celebrate the birth of postwar art in LA; a time when LA-based artists radically transformed the art scene.
The highways and byways of the Southland will connect through visual arts venues as they simultaneously present art made in LA during the four decades in which LA emerged as a major force in the art world. Collectively titled Pacific Standard Time: Art in LA 1945-1980, this unprecedented collaborative is an initiative of the J. Paul Getty Trust with arts institutions across Southern California.
From October 2011-April 2012, extraordinary exhibitions, exquisite art galleries and performance spaces will showcase four decades of art made in Los Angeles highlighting the tremendous creativity and diversity of Southern California.
During the six-month long celebration, visitors will be enthralled by exhibitions displaying the best of quintessential California culture from a presentation of modern California design at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art to an exhibition exploring LA's pop music scene at the GRAMMY Museum.
The presentations will include a range of mixed media from MOCA's Naked Hollywood displaying photography by the tabloid photographer known as Weegee to paintings and assemblages seen in Miradas: Ancient Roots in Modern Mexican Art, a survey of works by artists on both sides of the border -- American and Mexican-American at the LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes.
